An Australian scientist Craig Wright and self-confessed Satoshi Nakamoto took legal-action against 16 bitcoin developers to reclaim bitcoin worth $5.7 billion.
According to Reuters records, Wright filed a claim in London high court regarding the hacking of his computer systems and lost private keys in February 2020, which is still under inquiry.
Even more, the agenda of the case opposing BTC developers from four networks, Bitcoin core, Bitcoin Cash, Bitcoin cash ABC and Bitcoin Satoshi vision.
Seychelles-related Tulip trading company who supported Wright in the case against the developers. Law firm Ontier, Paul Ferguson who represents Wright says,
“Our client has always maintained that he created bitcoin to operate within existing laws and that in the event of loss or theft, where legitimate ownership can be proven, the developers have a duty to ensure recovery.”
The controversial statement gained more interest and set patterns for crypto-theft cases in the laws. There were more strong arguments between Wright and the defendants in the case.
Aa a suspect, Peter Todd raised voice against Wright. Moreover, Wright didn’t submit legal documents to prove the ownership of the assets.
Furthermore, Nakamoto claimed he is the inventor of bitcoin whitepaper without any proof in 2016.
Legal case of Wright & Nakamoto in Court of London
In April 2021, the London court took action in the case of Wright against Nakamoto. He gained approval to file a copyright lawsuit against the website cobra, publisher of bitcoin.org. Regarding this, the website submitted the lawsuit of bitcoin whitepaper. However, Wright boldly answered, he is Nakamoto, no specific firm or people can publish whitepaper.
