The Ukrainian state security service(SBU) announced that it had detected the largest illegal cryptocurrency mining facility in Ukraine. And in the same vein, large-scale theft of electricity.

According to the report released on July 8, 2021, Thursday, the illegal mining site, detected in JSC Vinnytsiaoblenerho’s former premises. The cribbed power was utilized to mint digital coins in what officials described as the country’s largest illegal crypto farm discovered to this day.

Moreover, the investigation also babbled, that crypto miners from Vinnytsyva and Kyiv set up the illegal mining facility. Even more, they had interfered along with electric power metering units to conceal their unlawful acts.

Accordingly, above mentioned all of them are seized. More so, at present investigations are underway in identifying the people involved in illegal activities. The investigation carried by the SBU Department for CI protection of State Economic Interests jointly with the SBU office in the Vinnytsia region also the Main National Police Investigation Department, under the supervision of the Prosecutor General’s office.

Conversely, the report released by Ukrainian authorities suggests the unlawful mining operation is responsible for losses of electricity in the range of 5 to 7 million hryvnias, or between around $183,000 and $256,000.

Even more, the SBU has introduced criminal proceedings for the forbidden, use of electricity, water, and thermal energy against the operators of the mining facility, under the Ukrainian criminal code.
