A Doge NFT Split Into 17 Billion Pieces Is Available For Auction

Dogecoin began as a joke coin and has since grown to become a phenomenal token in the crypto-market. The meme-currency had a significant impact on investors, and as a result, many joke-currencies entered the crypto space. Significantly, Dogecoin attracted huge investors and it has been the most favourable meme-token of the year.

On June 12, the owner of Shiba Inu, Atsuko Sato minted the original meme photo as NFT. It was sold for 1,696 ETH to PleasrDAO which is an art-focused decentralized autonomous  organization. Now, the original Doge NFT is set for auction on September 1.

The PleasrDAO has now announced that the original Doge NFT has been divided into 17 billion pieces of ERC-20 tokens dubbed ‘$DOG.’ This auction, which takes place on September 1, allows anyone to buy $DOG and own it. Furthermore, initially 20% of $DOG supply will be available at the auction, with the additional 25% used for $DOG development and community programs.

According to the blog post from PleasrDAO, the NFT will be available on the exchange platform fractional.art or traded via decentralized exchange Sushi and Uniswap. The primary goal is to make the art reach high in price. The firm states:

“We will not put The Doge NFT up for auction until we believe $DOG has reached meme escape velocity and is accompanied by a strong, thriving community.”

Popular Figures Interest Towards Doge

As a matter of fact, Doge was the talk of the town a few months back. We all know that the internet can spread even small things into larger ones, and Doge is not an exceptional case. Memes and the internet, in some ways, played a major role in the rise of Doge, attracting popular figures and large investors.

And that’s how, a Japanese-American tennis star, Naomi Osaka entered the crypto market where DOGE piqued her interest. She stated to Bloomerg on August 31 that she was eager to know about Doge as the internet created the hype for DOGE via social platforms.

This 23-year old player won four Grand Slam titles in a row, and has also printed her footprints into NFT space. Significantly, she has signed a deal with Tom Brady’s Autograph platform, which released a series of tokenized collectibles late last month. However, Doge has gained huge attention and now people are waiting to witness the boom of Doge NFT via this auction.
