Blockchain-based music streaming and sharing platform, Audius is launching its Solana NFT integration after the high-speed blockchain achieved $60 million in collectible transactions in the last week.
Audius is a growing streaming music service that provides an alternative to heavyweight players in the space, like Spotify and Apple Music through a decentralized approach that hosts tunes on distributed nodes. Like other crypto projects of late, Audius has accepted NFTs.
Accordingly, the initial integration features Solana wallet Phantom and will unlock a new feature for Audius Silver Tier profiles enabling its over six million users to starts displaying Solana SPL NFT collectibles alongside Ethereum’s ERC-20 NFT collectibles such as Crypto Punks, Bored Ape Yacht Club, Cool Cats or Hashmasks.
More so, the CEO and co-founder of Phantom Brandon Millman has stated, we are excited for Phantom to be the main gateway for Solana NFTs to debut with the Audius Collectibles Gallery and look forward to becoming more embedded in the platform’s native user experience”.
Furthermore, Audius is not trying to sell potentially valuable crypto collectibles. But it has added support for users to display their own NFT collections on their respective profile pages. Previously users could only display NFTS minted on Ethereum, the leading platform for tokenized collectibles, but now it competitor Solana, also launched on Audius.
Henceforth, Solana has dubbed the ability of Ethereum for how it improves on some of the platform’s current deficiencies. While Ethereum continuously gets eliminated down with network congestion, boosting transaction fees in the process, the more energy-efficient Solana claims to be able to handle thousands of more transactions per second than Ethereum.
