- British Auction House Christie’s announced NFT art auction.
- NFT auction begins on September 17 and ends on September 28.
- This sale poised to set another milestone in the history of Crypto Art.
The British auction house Christie’s has been auctioning luxury goods, artwork, clothing, and jewelry for more than 100 years. Recently, Christie’s has announced non-fungible token art auction will feature NFTs like Cryptopunks, Bored Apes, and Meebits sold on the auction block.
Moreover, the NFT auction featuring these NFTs will begin on September 17 at 2:00 p.m. (HKT) and end on September 28 at 2:00 p.m. (HKT). The Christie website states, Christie’s presents No Time Like Present, presenting the very first NFT sale in Asia offered by an international auction house.
Furthermore, Christie’s got into the cryptocurrency and blockchain scene last year and sold its first NFT for $131,250. In the second week of May, Christie’s held a Cryptopunks auction where the auction house sold nine punks more than $16 million. During the Beeple NFT sale of more than $69 million, Christie’s was also instrumental. And this was the most expensive NFT to date.
More so, Christie’s other auction houses such as Philips and Sotheby’s have joined the NFT and blockchain space. Auction house Philips auctioned one of Banksy’s Laugh Now Panel prints in the first week of June. And another one, Sotheby’s Auction House has been working with artists like Jay-Z, the inventor of the World Wide Web (WWW), Sir Timothy John Berners-Lee, and auctioning diamonds for crypto as well.
According to the sale of NFT, the British auction house stated, “Key highlights of the sale will include a group of exceptionally rare Cryptopunks created by Larva Labs, as well as Yuga Labs’ Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) and Larva Labs’ latest creation Meebits”. Also added,
“This auction also marks the first time BAYC and Meebits will be offered outside of any NFT-trading platform. This sale poised to set another milestone in the history of Crypto Art.”
