Wicked Cranium Sells $4 Million worth of NFTs in Two Days

A new NFT collection called Wicked Cranium just fetched $4 million in a secondary sale, just two days after its initial sale. The sale was made on OpenSea and it has become the second most popular series on the platform. Wicked Cranium falls in the vein of cryptoPunks, an art movement that has made millions on NFT platforms.

The cryptoPunks have gone for a lot of money. However, there are more than 10,000 crypto punk art pieces out of which only a few have fetched millions of dollars.

Like the cryptoPunk Wicked Cranium is also another domain, with different portraits having different traits. The art is slightly different with portraits involving skeletons. There are more than 10,770 total Wicked Cranium NFTs for sale right now.

CryptoPunks Gets Competition

CryptoPunks is not the only high flying NFT series, another series called Bored Ape Yacht Club is flying really high. It is also a series of algorithmically generated portraits that have a bored looking ape character. Earlier this month an NFT in the category sold for $130,000 shattering all other records.

However, the whole market right now is not in a healthy state. With the NFT market suffering from bad days. In April the newly minted NFTs reached almost 50,000 however, currently it stands at less than half of that. The biggest contributing factor to this is the fall in the price of the cryptos in the recent months.
