Biden Warns Putin to Crack Down on Russian Ransomware Attack

During a conversation with Vladimir Putin, U.S. President Joe Biden warned Putin to crack down on Russian ransomware attacks. To defend its people and infrastructure after the latest ransomware attack. Vladimir Putin is a Russian politician and former intelligence officer, he is serving as the current president of Russia.

Biden warned Putin that he would hold Russia accountable for cyberattacks that originate there even if they not directly connected to the Kremlin.

“I made it very clear to him that the United States expects when a ransomware operation is coming from his soil. Even though it’s not sponsored by the state, we expect them to act on what that is”.

Even more, Biden stated that they gave Putin a list of 16 critical sectors that would warrant a response if attacked. And that it would take six months to a year to know whether or not we have a strategic dialogue that matters.
